Cycling through a pandemic was a project initially started with a friend Jon Heard. During the course of the pandemic, Jon visited me on his journey’s through the British Isles, while he was furloughed. Being a keen photographer, he wanted to share his travels with other like-minded people who were doing the same thing, and in doing so, raise money for charity.

The idea? A book to stand as a memento from our covid times to highlight the wonders of getting out and enjoying the environment around us; something we’ve all come to recognise as deeply important.

The visual treatment of the book was managed with a minimal approach; letting the storytelling come predominantly from the images and words of the contributors. There were subtle cues to the location with colour being suggestive of temperature and GPS co-ordinates acting as geo-tags for each story.

The pandemic has shaken us, the earth and the status quo.
In a year where so much has changed, cycling has remained a
source of freedom, independence and joy for many of us.
